Students of the Margaretta Local School District WILL NOT be required to make up instructional time lost from snow days and calamity delays this school year, 2017-2018.
Prior to a new law from 2014, instructional time was measured in days. The state now measures instructional time in hours. Currently, we exceed the required 1,001 minimum instructional hours.
Our district’s labor contract with teachers specifies instructional and professional development days total 184 days per school year. Currently, we fall below the required 184 contracted days. Per a recently approved Memorandum of Understanding with our unions, our teachers will be provided 3 professional development days to fulfill their contracted days.
The final student day for Margaretta students will remain Friday, June 1, 2018.
One School, One Book
Starting May 1st, our school will be embarking on a special project, a community-wide book club called One School, One Book™. Every family will receive a copy of the same book – The World According to Humphrey, by Betty G. Birney – and will be asked to read it together at home over the next few weeks. We are personally asking parents to make the time so that every family can participate in this special activity. Be sure to check out the live chapter readings and questions on this page. Don’t forget to visit our participating area businesses.
Thank you to Martha Holden Jennings Grant Foundation who helped to make One School, One Book a possibility!
